Chiang rai province extends from the Thailand-Myanmar border-top North in Mae Sai down to Fang on the way to Chiang Dao after Mae Chan, Thaton, and Chai Prakharn in Chiang Mai province. On the route to Chiang Mai, the Chiang Rai province stops in Viang Papao near Phrao.
